Application and fees

  1. The tuition fees are inclusive of IVA of 22%.
  2. The Registration Fee is charged once and only once at the time of the registration of each new pupil.
  3. The non-refundable Enrolment Fee is to be paid annually by May of the previous academic year.
  4. Failure to pay the enrolment fee by the 30th May will result in the loss of the child’s place.
  5. Payment can be made yearly, each term, or bi-monthly but always in advance. The cost for each month has been calculated in the yearly cost of each child, i.e. although September is a shorter school month than October, the cost is the same.
  6. Tuition fees are set and payable as determined by First Steps every two years. To cover any unforeseen eventualities, with no less than three months’ notice in writing First Steps may increase the tuition fees.
  7. Tuition fees include books and stationery and 2 hours gym a week.
  8. Tuition fees do not include school meals (for those children attending First Steps full-time).
  9. In the event that payment is not made within 15 days of the same becoming due interest (which shall include a penalty) at the rate of  4% of the unpaid amount shall be payable calculated at a daily rate from the date that the same was due until the payment date.
  10. No refunds.
  11. If fees remain unpaid for more than 30 days this shall be treated at First Steps option as a termination of the contract by the parent and upon notice to the parent the child will no longer be able to attend First Steps. First Steps reserves the right to take legal action to recover any outstanding fees due to it.
  12. One full term’s notice in writing is required to withdraw a student from First Steps, in the event of the family being transferred. Failure to give such notice will result in a charge of one third of the relevant annual tuition fee.
  13. First Steps may at any time in its absolute discretion exclude a child and require a Parent / carer to collect the child from First Steps immediately.  In the event of such exclusion First Steps may in its absolute discretion suspend or terminate this contract and, if applicable, payment of fees shall be suspended and fees paid in advance shall be refunded.
  14. Any dispute arising from the terms of this contract shall be dealt with by il Foro di Monza whose decision shall be final. This contract between First Steps and the Parent is binding on the parties and may only be amended in writing with the agreement of First Steps and the Parent.

Attendance

Preschool

Regarding the Daytime kids, the school attendance is quite flexible. Our children can choose, especially at the beginning of their school life, to come two, three, four or five times a week. It is possible to have just a morning attendance (9-12.30 a.m.), to stay for lunch (9-2 p.m.) or to have a full day (9-4 p.m). Of course we encourage a full attendance because kids need a set routine in order to get settled, establish relationships with mates and teachers and improve their English all the time. Lunch is provided by Sodexo directly at school but it is also possible for the kids to bring their own packed lunch from home. Our big guys also have a special treat twice a week as they go for lunch to Ristorantino, the next door restaurant. Our little children have also got the possibility to go to sleep after lunch. Moreover, we offer a service of pre-school (8-9 a.m.) and after-school (4-5 p.m.).

After school courses

Regarding the after school courses, we provide individual or group lessons for kids and for adults. We offer 1 hour, 1.5 hour or 2 hours lessons from Monday to Saturday; we also guarantee classes of a maximum number of  4 people per hour ( a second teacher is provided in case of an increase of the number). Before the inscription we also offer a free trial lesson in order to find the most suitable group and course for everyone.

Summer School

Our Summer School usually starts in June – depending on the end of the school year – and it usually lasts 5 weeks – according to the number of inscriptions: we usually require a minimum of ten kids per week. It is possible to choose just a morning attendance (9-12.30 a.m.), to stay for lunch (9-2 p.m.), to come for the afternoon (12.30-4 p.m.) or to have a full day (9-4 p.m). Lunch is provided by Sodexo directly at school but it is also possible for the kids to bring their own packed lunch from home. We also provide a service of pre-school (8-9 a.m.) and after-school (4-5 p.m.). A minimum attendance of a week is required. Every week should be booked and paid in advance in order to guarantee a suitable ratio of teachers to kids.

Prices

First Steps offers a wide range of attendances, activities and lessons. To find out more about the most suitable courses, times, days and prices please come to our office from Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The office is also open every last Saturday of the month.

Allergies

Please give us information regarding any kind of allergy your child might have.

If your child needs a special diet please supply a copy of their doctor’s certificate.

Lunches

Full-time children at First Steps ( 9-4 pm ) have lunch at  school. Lunch is prepared daily by Sodexo,  the weekly menu is displayed on First Steps  notice board. 

It is also possible to bring packed lunch from home.

Each school meal costs eur 6,00 

School lunches must be paid in advance, payable in cash, on the first Monday of each calendar month.

The cost of lunches cannot be added to the fees, and varies from month to month.

In the event of a child’s absence, the school must be notified before 9:30 otherwise the lunch will be ordered and must be paid for.

In cases where we have been advised that children will not be having lunch, the cost can be deducted the following month.

Please note there is an additional annual fee of eur 25,00 to be paid by all children who stay for lunch. This helps to cover the cost of plastic plates etc.
